Christina Russo (Voice)

Christina Russo, mezzo-soprano, completed her Master of Music degree at Binghamton University with a concentration in Opera Performance. Christina completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocal Performance from Hofstra University where she studied with Tammy Hensrud and performed with the Hofstra Opera Theater.

Ms. Russo was seen most recently as Dorabella in Così fan tutte and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, both with the Binghamton University Opera Ensemble, conducted by Maestro Willie A. Waters and directed by David Toulson.
ChristinaPortrait_07292015_15In November 2016, she made her company and role debut as the Sandman in the Tri-Cities Opera production of Hansel and Gretel, in which she also covered the role of the Witch. While in Binghamton, Christina worked very closely with various internationally-renowned stage directors and conductors at Tri-Cities while covering roles in Iolanta (Marta) and Hydrogen Jukebox (Mezzo-soprano), and singing in the ensemble (Sweeney Todd; La traviata). Tri-Cities Opera also hosted a number of concerts, including a contemporary works concert, the annual “Opera and Beer” event, the annual “Bravo Broadway” showtunes concert, and many other donor events in which Christina was featured as a soloist.

As a recitalist, she has performed various song, operetta, and opera repertoire in concert with the Westchester Summer Vocal Institute, Delaware Valley Opera’s Opera Advantage program, the Oyster Bay Music Festival, and the Songe d’été en musique festival in Quebec, Canada. She has coached and performed in masterclasses with Metropolitan Opera coaches, namely Vlad Iftinca and Yelena Kurdina, as well as the late Nico Castel.
Other stage credits include La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica), Nicklausse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), and Dido (Dido and Aeneas). Ms. Russo will be performing the role of Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with New York Opera Theater this November. Christina keeps an active voice studio on Long Island and has been one of the resident cantors at St. Bernard’s Parish in Levittown since 2010.
