Day 1 – We are in Italy!

by Marina Nebro

Sunday, July 1 – Monday July 2

So, we’re in Italy. The trip was quite an easy one despite its setbacks: Soon’s expired passport, the delay in Zurich, a long wait in baggage claim, and an un-air conditioned bus on which we traveled 2.5 hours in. But now that we’re actually here, it couldn’t be better! Dr. Michael Baron showed us around the area: the auditorium where concerts and master classes will be held, the music school where we will practice and have conversational Italian classes, and the main sites in the Piazza IV Novembre.

Finally, we ended the hilly trek with a nice dinner in Il Paiolo where we all enjoyed a pizza buffet. It got surprisingly late as time flew by and we headed home for showers and bed. Perugia gets very nice and cool at night, which is a delight as the sun can get quite toasty. The mornings here are also nice and chilled.

Day 1 Fun Tidbit:
  • Maxim lost a tooth on the HOT bus!
  • Pippa Borisy got lost on the way to dinner as she stopped to take a picture and lost the group!
