Samantha Britt (Voice)

Samantha Britt, voiceSamantha Britt is a lyric coloratura soprano whose flexible voice and versatile acting skills make her adept at many styles of music and drama.

Ms. Britt received acclaim for her performances of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro with San Antonio opera, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance at Boheme Opera New Jersey, and Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor at Green Mountain Opera Festival (where she also covered the title role). A native New Yorker, Ms. Britt frequently performs traditional repertoire in local concerts and salons, in addition to premieres with groups such as American Opera Projects and Essential Voices USA. Samantha can be heard as a soloist on the Milton Babbitt track and more of the CD “Celebrating the American Spirit” (which includes Kelli O’Hara and Ron Raines) on the Sono Luminus label, now available for purchase. Samantha recently performed Handel scenes and arias in an artist residency program “Il Cuore Canta” at the Hudson Opera House in Hudson, NY. She is currently recording a new food-centric song cycle, “In Appetizing Portions” (el. g., vln, sop.), composed for her by Fritz Myers with text by Clare Drobot, for commercial release in Spring 2013.

Equally comfortable in musical theater and opera, Samantha has performed Adina inL’elisir d’amore, Nella in Gianni Schicchi, and Miss Wordsworth in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring, as well as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Kristine in A Chorus LineSamantha is a proud multi-year Career Bridges Grantee, winner of the Boston district of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and of the Opera Singers Initiative Young Emerging Artist award.

Samantha maintains a private voice studio in Manhattan.
