Maximilian Morel (Trumpet, Ear Training, Theory)

36611032_1695304677253266_6181977468308553728_oSince first coming to the Juilliard School in 2011, trumpet soloist and Parisian native Maximilian Morel has performed regularly in various venues throughout New York City. Noteworthy performances include Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, recitals at the Park Avenue Armory and French Embassy. Mr. Morel started playing trumpet at age 6 and took his first trumpet lessons with Serge Delmas. Four years later he auditioned at the Conservatory of Paris and was the only candidate accepted into the trumpet studio formerly taught by Maurice Andre. At age 15 he studied with Raymond Mase in the Juilliard Pre-College division and went on to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in the College division. He is currently completing his Master’s degree with Louis Hanzlik. Mr. Morel is a prize winner of the National Trumpet Competition in France, Ile-sur-la-Sorgue, the 8th International Competition of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the 12th Jeju International Brass Competition, and the International Roger Voisin Trumpet Competition.

Over the span of his studies, Mr. Morel taught many private tutorials, coachings, and classrooms for ear-training and music theory as well as private trumpet lessons. He actively participated in outreach performances through the Gluck Fellowship at Juilliard which is a program dedicated to bring educational performances to diverse audiences throughout many facilities in New York. From 2015 to 2018, Mr. Morel was a Music Advancement Program fellow and taught brass instruments to young students to help them prepare for various auditions. From 2017-2018, he also taught at PS191 as a band leader and music educator for 5th and 6th graders.

As of Fall of 2018, Mr. Morel became a faculty member of the Juilliard Pre-College school as an Ear-Training and Music Theory coach.
